Halloween

It's Halloween, but I can't say I am exactly thrilled to have it be here this year. :-/ With my mom's still too recent passing I just am not in a Halloween mindset this year. One problem I have found with Halloween is that as always I bought candy for the holiday, and I can already foresee that there will be the usual lack of trick-or-treaters so I'll be left with a cauldron full of candy to avoid as I am trying not to ruin my weight loss.

Capella University

The following blog post was is based on information provided by Blogitive. For more information, please visit Blogitive.com.

Family caregivers do not have the luxury of being able to get out of the house and attend a traditional university, which is why I feel it is so important to have accredited online universities such as Capella University where students can learn in their own time through online courses.

Capella University offers over 100 graduate and undergraduate specializations and 15 certificate programs. They are an accredited online university where you can earn a traditional stone and mortar school mba though online courses.

With headquarters in Minneapolis, MN, Capella University teaches over 23,000 students in more than 45 countries. And now, with their podcasts available through iTunes or at http://www.capellacommons.com, you can find out more about what it is like to take online courses from the students, faculty and staff of Capella University. Check out all of the roughly 15 minute podcasts, podcasts such as the one featuring an interview with Beverly Enns, Capella’s faculty chair for reading/literacy.

Mom's Headstone

The headstone for my mom's grave site has arrived. I got a call this morning from the gal at the cemetery telling me that it is now set at the grave in a temporary cradle deal that will hold it until spring when the ground has thawed out enough that they can seat it permanently.

Dad was talking about wanting to go out there and see the marker, make sure that (after all the trouble we had on paper with getting them to get the right inscription information) that the marker has been properly inscribed.

Who am I voting for?

Got a call a few minutes ago from one of them guys wanting to know if I am voting for Mark Begich or Ethan Berkowitz and it totally flustrated him when my response was that I would vote for whichever one was more likely to be supporting bills such as H.R. 1161 - The Social Security Caregiver Credit Act of 2007.

Cranberry Picking

I'm trying to see if my nephew can come over and keep an eye on dad while I try to get out and pick some cranberries out in the woods before they're past the point they can be picked. It is something me and mom had done every year and were planning to do this year, so I would really like to get the chance to get out there and pick cranberries so I can make some cranberry sauce.
